A Raleigh Web Designer Who Builds the Sites Himself
Triangle Web Design is a one-person shop based in Raleigh, North Carolina. I'm Taylor Kelly — the person who answers the phone, writes the code, and runs the SEO. There is no account manager between you and the work. If something needs to change on your site, you talk to the person who built it.
I started Triangle Web Design after working at another agency and taking on freelance web design clients across the Triangle. Agency life taught me how projects actually get delivered. Freelance work taught me what small business owners in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill actually need: a fast site, a clear next step for the visitor, and someone who will still pick up the phone six months later.
Before this, I trained as a software engineer through 100Devs and earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Western Governors University. That engineering background is why every Triangle Web Design site is hand-coded instead of assembled in WordPress or Wix. Templates are convenient for the designer. They are slow, fragile, and expensive for the business paying for them.
Based in Raleigh, Serving the Triangle
I live and work in Raleigh. Client meetings happen here, in Durham, in Chapel Hill, or over a screen share — whichever is easier for you. Local means I already know how search behaves differently on Capital Boulevard versus Franklin Street versus the Bull City.
Open Source Community, Not Just Client Work
From 2022 to 2025 I volunteered with All Things Open, one of the largest open-source technology conferences in the U.S., supporting logistics and attendee engagement for 5,000+ participants. I also volunteered at DevOpsDays Raleigh. That community work is how I stay current — and why I care about clean, maintainable code.
A Short Client List on Purpose
I keep a small roster so every account gets real attention. You will not be handed off to a junior after the contract is signed. The $0-down, $150/month model exists so Triangle small businesses can get a custom site without a $5,000 invoice on day one.
How I Work With Triangle Small Businesses
- 01
You Work Directly With Me
Discovery calls, design decisions, SEO strategy, and monthly updates all go through the same person. That is slower to scale and faster to get right. Clients stay because the communication is simple.
- 02
Hand-Coded, Not Templated
Sites are written in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. No page builder bloat, no plugin updates that break the homepage overnight, and load times that actually pass Google's Core Web Vitals.
- 03
Local SEO Built In
Every site is structured for the Google Map Pack from day one: city pages, schema, Google Business Profile support, and copy written for how people search in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.
- 04
Honest Scope, Transparent Price
$0 down and $150/month for the website plan. SEO is scoped separately so you know exactly what you are paying for. If a project is not a fit, I will tell you that on the first call.
- 05
Engineering Background
Software engineering training through 100Devs and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Western Governors University shape how I build: version-controlled code, accessible markup, and sites that a future developer can actually maintain.
- 06
Local, Not Remote-Only
Most work happens on calls and screen shares. Kickoff meetings in person across the Triangle are available when you want them. I am in Raleigh, not a timezone eight hours away.
- 07
You Own the Code
If you ever leave, you can purchase the site and take it with you. I do not hold websites hostage. Clients stay because rankings and leads keep coming, not because they are locked in.
- 08
Results Over Decks
Reviews from Triangle business owners mention ranking higher, more bookings, and a site that looks like it belongs to a real company. That is the standard I hold the work to — not a 40-slide strategy PDF.

Questions People Ask Before They Hire Me
I do. Taylor Kelly, founder of Triangle Web Design in Raleigh. There is no offshore team and no junior designer taking over after the kickoff call. Agency work taught me how projects stall when too many people touch them. Freelance work taught me that small business owners want one person who owns the result. That is the model here: I write the code, I set up the local SEO, and I stay on the account. If you email about a copy change on a Tuesday, I am the person who makes it.
Larger agencies have more people. They also have more handoffs, more retainers, and more time billed for meetings you did not need. I keep a short client list on purpose. You get a hand-coded site, local SEO aimed at the Triangle Map Pack, and a direct line to the person doing the work. The tradeoff is capacity: I cannot take every project. If your timeline or scope is a better fit for a bigger team, I will say so on the first call instead of stretching to win the contract.
Both, because the two only work together. A beautiful site that loads slowly and has no city pages will not rank in Raleigh. An SEO campaign on a bloated WordPress template fights the platform every month. I hand-code the site so it is fast, then I build the local SEO — Google Business Profile, service-area pages for Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, and the schema search engines need — on top of that foundation. Clients hire me for one or both. The monthly website plan starts at $0 down and $150/month; SEO is scoped separately.
Yes. I am based in Raleigh and will meet in Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Morrisville, or anywhere else in the Triangle that is convenient. Most of the actual build happens on calls and screen shares because that is faster for both of us. Kickoff in person is useful when you want to walk through a current site, photos, or branding in the same room. After launch, updates usually happen over email or a short call. You are not required to come into an office.
Call (919) 561-6223 or fill out the contact form. We will schedule a free 20-minute discovery call. I look at your current site and Google Business Profile, tell you what is actually holding you back in local search, and outline what a hand-coded site plus local SEO would look like for your cities. No pitch deck. If it is not a fit, you leave with a clearer picture of what to fix anyway.
